Reveal My Chart →What You'll See
A complete reading includes every layer a classical BaZi practitioner would read — no simplified algorithms, no zodiac-substitute fluff.
- Four Pillars — Year, Month, Day, and Hour pillars; each carries one Heavenly Stem and one Earthly Branch, eight characters total.
- Your Day Master — the Heavenly Stem of your birth day. Represents you. The core of every reading.
- Seasonal Strength — Day Master evaluated against the month pillar to determine strong vs. weak configuration.
- The Ten Gods — Friend, Rival, Eating God, Hurting Officer, Direct Wealth, Indirect Wealth, Direct Officer, Seven Killings, Direct Resource, Indirect Resource — the relational grammar of a BaZi chart.
- Hidden Stems — each Earthly Branch holds 1–3 hidden stems that determine actual elemental distribution.
- Useful God (用神) — the element your chart needs most for balance.
- Five Element Distribution — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water strength across your pillars.
True Solar Time Correction
A detail most free calculators skip: true solar time. BaZi's hour pillar must be based on the actual sun angle at your birthplace, not the local clock time. Key of Elements automatically calculates true solar time from your birth city's longitude, so your hour pillar is accurate.
This matters especially for people born in non-standard time zones, near time-zone borders, or overseas — a single-hour error can shift three of your four pillars.
After Your Reading: How to Go Deeper
Generating the chart is the first step. If you're new, we recommend this reading order:
- Find your Day Master (the character in the Day pillar's upper position), then read the corresponding guide:
The Ten Day Masters → - Learn the foundations: Yin-Yang · Five Elements · Four Pillars — beginner-friendly introductions.
- Advance to Ten Gods, Luck Pillars, and Annual Pillars (articles coming).

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Chart generation, Day Master interpretation, and basic Five Elements analysis are free with no signup required. An optional free account lets you save past readings and unlock deeper Luck Pillar and Annual Pillar analysis.
If you know the approximate window (e.g., "morning"), select a representative hour within that window. Hour-pillar error will affect some useful-god analysis but your Day pillar (and therefore your Day Master) will still be correct. If precision matters to you, check your birth certificate or ask your parents.
Strongly recommended. The chart uses true solar time calculated from your city's longitude. Nearby cities usually yield identical results, but cross-province or cross-country placement (e.g., US-born with Chinese heritage) absolutely requires an accurate city.
The calculation follows classical BaZi methodology identically to how a traditional practitioner would compute a chart by hand — only faster. Accuracy is the accuracy of classical BaZi itself. The interpretive text aims to be a faithful modern reading of the primary texts, not a simplified restatement.
